Description
This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe has been modified and refurbished with a 5.3-liter V8, six-speed manual transmission, and Ford 9" rear end with 3.70:1 gears. The engine features a Summit Racing camshaft, FAST intake manifold, and Holley Sniper fuel injection. Headers feed a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers. Cooling is provided by a Griffin radiator, and additional components include a Holley oil pan, fuel tank, and fuel pump.
The chassis has been boxed with a central crossbrace added, and rear mini-tubs were installed. Suspension and handling include coilovers, Speedtech control arms, and front drop spindles. Braking is handled by Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers over cross-drilled and slotted discs, with a Wilwood master cylinder and proportioning valve. Rack-and-pinion steering is installed.
The exterior is finished in Ivory Gold with replacement glass, chrome, and bumpers. Features include a refinished cowl panel, radiator support, fenders, quarter panels, doors, and realigned badging. The car rides on five-spoke 18" E-T wheels with 245/45 front and 315/40 rear Nitto NT555 G2 tires.
The interior features low-back bolstered front bucket seats and a rear bench re-trimmed in gold vinyl, a Hurst shifter in the center console, Vintage Air climate control, and a retro-style radio linked to Kenwood rear deck speakers and a trunk-mounted subwoofer. A woodgrain-rimmed steering wheel fronts Dakota Digital instrumentation, including a 120-mph speedometer with digital odometer showing 1,400 miles, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through the six-speed manual transmission with an American Powertrain hydraulic clutch and the Ford 9" rear end with Detroit Truetrac differential. A revised driveshaft and U-joints complete the drivetrain.
